Stories from the Aegean Sea: Chapter #2 MYLOS-POLYAIGOS-KIMOLOS

Milos – Kleftiko

The luminous Cycladic Island of Milos is a secret destination.  With more than 70 beaches considered among the best in the Aegean, the isle where the Louvre’s prized Venus de Milo was found has a fascinating history and spellbinding volcanic landscapes. The highlights of Milos seem endless. Kleftiko, with its white rock formations, emerald, green waters and caves eroded by the sea, are steeped in stories of pirates. But it is rivalled by early Christian catacombs, an array of beaches and the multicoloured settlements.

Pollonia at Milos

Pollonia at Milos is a charming fishing village built around an inlet that features a small harbour. Despite its picturesque atmosphere and traditional character, the settlement is not only well-developed, but it is in fact considered one of the main tourist resorts on the island. A quiet tourist resort, Pollonia features all the amenities you’d expect to find in a typical Greek island and more, such as sandy, tamarisk tree-lined, protected beaches, traditional tavernas by the waterfront, fishing boats moored by the quay, quaint, white & blue rooms for rent, bougainvillea-adorned houses, white-washed churches, beautiful views of the Aegean Sea, romantic sunsets, and more.

Kimolos

Next stop is the picturesque Kimolos. It takes its name from the Greek word Kimolia, which means chalk. Its name recalls the white rocks of the Island. There you will see the Syrmata that are constructions with colourful doors carved into the rocks. The constructions were built from the fishermen in order to house their boats. Its amazing beaches and the charming architecture of its main town, Chorio, have turned Kimolos into one of the hottest alternative destinations in Greece!
